Even after the change in venue from Nashville, Tenn., to the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, this year’s conference broke attendance records. More than 4,000 participants had an exclusive opportunity to explore an exhibit hall of over 100,000 square feet featuring 220 exhibitor and sponsor organizations.

GEOINT 2011 will head back to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, on October 16-19.
The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation’s (USGIF) staff returned to D.C. and is already planning for next year’s event.

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) announced on Thursday, Nov. 4, during a presentation at the GEOINT 2010 Symposium, Esri President Jack Dangermond as the 2010 recipient of the Arthur C. Lundahl Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Arthur C. Lundahl Lifetime Achievement Award, renamed this year from the USGIF Lifetime Achievement Award, is presented annually to someone who has dedicated their career to promoting the geospatial intelligence tradecraft.

Part of USGIF’s mission is to help improve upon each host city of the GEOINT Symposium. From this, the USGIF Young Professionals Group participated in a mapping service project in order to assist residents in New Orleans.
YPG’s were also treated to a special tour of the GEOINT 2010 exhibit hall with President Keith Masback.

USGIF has just added to the agenda a USGIF Workshop on Commercial SAR Familiarization.
From 2:30 p.m. until about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, SAR experts from NGA and commercial providers will present a tutorial on Synthetic Aperture Radar.

Join USGIF and other GEOINT 2010 attendees at the 6th Annual Allder Golf Classic to be held Monday, Nov. 1 at the Stonebridge Golf Club of New Orleans. Proceeds from the event contribute to the general USGIF Scholarship Fund. Register by Friday, Oct. 8.
