From USGIF President Keith Masback: Flooding in Nashville, TN

May 4, 2010

The City of Nashville and surrounding areas experienced unprecedented rain over this past weekend, and therefore they have experienced severe flooding. With the success of the GEOINT 2008 Symposium at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville, we created fantastic partnerships with many people including the management and staff at the Gaylord and with the great professionals at the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau. They are all wonderful to work with, and the safety and welfare of them, their staffs, and their families are first in our minds. We wish them all well as they deal with the aftermath of the terrible flooding.

USGIF is returning to Nashville and the Gaylord Opryland for GEOINT 2010 in November. We are in close contact with our partners at the hotel and in the city, and every initial indication is that they will be ready for our return in the fall. We understand that our exhibitors, sponsors, potential attendees and speakers are keenly interested in how things progress in Nashville, as evidenced by the many phone calls and emails we’ve received over the past 48 hours.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and release information as soon as we have it; however, based on even the most conservative estimates heard in our conversations yesterday, we have no reason to doubt that all will be in readiness for the GEOINT 2010 Symposium.

I thank you for your support of USGIF and your thoughts for the people of Nashville.

Sincerely,

Keith J. Masback
President
